When will there be more youth national teams?

What are your thoughts on "nationalizing" players? I am sure that he would be pleased to tell you about his plans. He has submitted to me a five-year development plan that I am in the process of reviewing for inclusion in an overall 5 year Strategy for the HKFA. It includes proposals to develop Futsal in Schools as well as the establishment of new training schemes and leagues. I can't do it justice in this short response but we hope to publish the plan in the near future.
The HKFA is committed to the development of Futsal, we see it as a very important area both as a contributer to football development but also as a sport in its own right.
Regards
Mark

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12311816601866550472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578658460757089715.post-22434878304545579642013-09-09T12:05:44.198+08:002013-09-09T12:05:44.198+08:00Dear Allan,

Of course this is up to the Government to decide. The HKFA would support such a move because there is a need for something in between Mong Kok and a much larger National Stadium.
Regards
MarkAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12311816601866550472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578658460757089715.post-37582837895475041122013-09-06T13:34:19.540+08:002013-09-06T13:34:19.540+08:00Dear Mark,

I thought Brian Leung said once before that you'd be the official channel from which all HKFA matters would be released. Obviously he now thinks otherwise.

Of course Barclays Asia Trophy will go to Singapore in 2015 and maybe 2017, I know I would. We have not been paying attention to our competitors' development at all until now.

We don't just need to build a 60,000 capacity Kai Tak Stadium AT Kai Tak, we also need to refurbish HK stadium because Rugby is going to be more and more popular (Rugby Sevens is now a Sports Institute "Tier A" sport) and they will need to use the stadium more often than ever. In 2019 Hong Kong will also host some matches of the Rugby World Cup, too. That means they will take over at least one of the stadiums, if not both.

HKFA must make it very clear to the government that Hong Kong Stadium needs to stay and needs reinvestment. Hong Kong is big enough for two stadiums and it will be how we get ahead of Singapore again.

Regards,

AllanAllanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12646154376003357875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578658460757089715.post-75268660388635455642013-08-05T16:09:00.838+08:002013-08-05T16:09:00.838+08:00Dear Allan,

It is not just the pitch that is poor, but the whole infrastructure is showing its age. Unless we are very careful, we will lose ground to other emerging sporting countries like Singapore for example that is building a new sports hub. A 55,000 seat stadium with retractable roof will be provided tghere opening in 2014. If we are not careful, this will be the venue of choice for visitng international teams.
Hong Kong must move forward quickly on this vital project.
Regards
Mark

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12311816601866550472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578658460757089715.post-39030351813718943802013-08-05T15:58:14.737+08:002013-08-05T15:58:14.737+08:00Dear Bruno,

The plan involves working much more closely with schools, introducing a Hong Kong Futsal League and engaging with Districts regarding inter-District junior leagues. The Manager took both mens and womens teams on a training camp in China as preparation for the Asian Indoor Games in Incheon at the end of June. Both of these were good experience for our representative players. I am confident that Futsal has a bright future within the FA and Hong Kong. It features highly within the overall HKFA strategy that will be published soon.
Regards
Mark
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12311816601866550472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578658460757089715.post-60899886054355546412013-08-05T15:54:00.763+08:002013-08-05T15:54:00.763+08:00Dear Allan,

It is disappointing and frustrating that we are not in a position to announce anything yet. We will continue to do our best to persuade local Companies to support us.
The 'product' in Singapore is much more developed than here in Hong Kong.
